Shampoo

❥ what initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.

I was mad into Ranma 1/2 at the time. I can't remember if I ever tried Ranma, but I took Shampoo because the Cantina at the time was pretty cracktastic and you could have characters like Shampoo busting through walls to make deliveries. So she did and uh, rest is history if you're familiar with the SW Cantina.

❥ one of his/her best traits.

She was cute and always making deliveries. Because there was a jacuzzi in the Cantina (why, exactly, where was one is something I'll never know), she was pretty much turning into a cat and then back to Nekkid!Shampoo all the time for massive hijinks.

❥ one of his/her worst traits.

She was a crack character, so basically all she did was make deliveries, kick down doors/walls, and turn into a cat. Pretty much one-dimensional.

❥ how easy/difficult I find it to write the character.

At the time it was easy. I wasn't doing any serious writing, so this was pretty much for fun. But it was difficult to do anything but her cliches.

❥ the story/thread/chapter/post/etc where I feel that I truly captured them.

Unable to find any, sorry. This is way before logs.

❥ my plans (if any) to write the character in the near future

None. I had fun with her, but I don't plan to app her or RP her again.

------------

Famira Jinn

❥ what initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.

I made a self-insert character called Famira Jinn. Famira was the name of some unimportant Dragons of Pern character and I liked the character of Qui-Gon Jinn (character had no relationship with that though).

❥ one of his/her best traits.

She was a Jedi and taught Razel/Crusader. And for some reason, Cru the character killed her and she got revived as a ghola from Dune (before I, uh, read exactly how ghola clones are created).

❥ one of his/her worst traits.

Kind of a boring character without much personality. At that point it was just how badass/wow-she's-a-Jedi instead of any interesting flaws or background.

❥ how easy/difficult I find it to write the character.

It was difficult because she wasn't really a crack character. And she wasn't really involved in the "invasions" there'd be on Tatooine or anything, so there wasn't a lot of involvement with others. I stopped playing with the character after she went ghola and was all toying with the Dark Side.

❥ the story/thread/chapter/post/etc where I feel that I truly captured them.

The ghola thing was cool, but eh, looking back on it, wasn't that interesting.

❥ my plans (if any) to write the character in the near future

None. The only thing I like right now was the character design because she had these cool hair/ear decorations. *Shallow?*

YESSSSSSSSS

Qui-Gon Jinn

❥ what initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.

Qui-Gon's always been my favorite prequel character. The first time I heard of him was when [info]wyna_hiros decided to be a jerk and spoil it for me by running up to me and going "QUI-GON DIES" - I didn't know who Qui-Gon was but then he appeared in Episode One and YEAH. The rest is history. I really liked his nobility in the movie and his interaction with others and with Obi-Wan. Couple that with the Jedi Apprentice books. He was a Jedi in his prime and it was interesting to me to see two Jedi interact instead of what you saw in the OT and the EU after then.

❥ one of his/her best traits.

He's pretty patient and willing to meet others. He also deeply cares for Obi-Wan and for others. But at the same time he's also toeing a line and passing out stuff like mind-tricks out like candy, as well as breaking rules here and there.

❥ one of his/her worst traits.

It's difficult to write mysterious/patient sometimes. The character's a lot smarter/wiser than I am, so it's kind of a lot of bsing sometimes.

❥ how easy/difficult I find it to write the character.

I was had writer's block earlier, but now I'm good to go. I usually find him pretty easy to write so long as he knows the person he's threading with, which means I can start doing longer posts. The hardest part for me is to get him to thread with new people and keep threading with them so he can enter plots with them.

❥ the story/thread/chapter/post/etc where I feel that I truly captured them.

Oh man, there's so much stuff I geek out over. Uh, I guess I'll throw in some of that Obiqui AIM RP we had going and then some stuff from [info]damned.

AIM RP - Qui-Gon giving Obi-Wan the Padawan Cut

The express turbolift dropped them off onto the Masters’ floor: his own quarters were only a short walk from there, overlooking a small balcony that had a spectacular view of Coruscant. He ignored this as he sat Obi-wan down on a chair in the middle of the room, rummaging through his drawers - unlike Obi-Wan, he didn't seem to care where he put things for future use, instead placing them wherever he happened to finish using them. There didn’t appear to be much organization. His quarters, while considerably larger than his Padawan's, weren’t any neater, though it looked definitely lived in.

As the boy waited, Obi-Wan’s gaze traveled around the room he found himself in. He was surprised at how untidy some places seemed in comparison to his own room back at the initiates’ level. Still, the place was far from being a complete wreck, and it wasn’t long until his eyes found the stunning view that could be seen through the window.

Qui-Gon eventually returned with two small boxes. One was made of natural wood - a rarity in Coruscant - polished smooth by constant use and the touch of many hands in the past. It bore the mark of the Jedi on the lid. The other was a sleek, gray metal container. The Jedi Master set both of these down onto the shelf next to his Padawan as he retrieved some new towels from the 'fresher. These went around the boy's shoulders.

Qui-Gon placed himself behind Obi-Wan, beginning the ritual cut.

"Initiate Obi-Wan Kenobi," he said formally. "Have you prepared yourself to ascend to the level of Padawan and teach me as I will teach you?"

Resolutely staring ahead, Obi-Wan gave a determined nod. This is what he’d been working toward his entire childhood. He recalled all of the basic training lessons he’d received, his good times as he made friends and mastered simple techniques, his bad times as he struggled with frustration and unkind initiates. And they all ultimately led to this moment, the here and now.

"I have."

"Very well. The life of a Padawan is difficult," Qui-Gon said softly, opening the metal box. He removed a set of scissors and combs, designed specifically for the ritual: they gleamed in the light like molten silver, used only every now and then, razor-sharp as if they were still new. "It is a dangerous path. Often you will be injured. Often you will lose focus. Often you may think you have lost your way."

He began the first cut, still reciting the litany as locks of Obi-Wan's auburn hair began to tumble down his shoulders and to the floor.

"A Padawan's life may seem unfair at times, even thankless. We Jedi are peacekeepers in tune with our senses, but even we are only part of the cycle that is the Will of the Force. Always value life but accept death when it comes. Death is the end and the beginning," Qui-Gon's scissor, well-maintained, snipped at the thick hair. "So it is with all living things."

He had cut quickly and neatly, leaving a longer strand of Obi-Wan's hair untouched to remain dangling from the right side of his head. Enough for a ponytail hung from the back. The scissors went quiet and Qui-Gon picked up the wooden box. He paused on this, large callused hands resting on the smooth polished surface. This ancient box contained a lot of memories, good and bad, for better or worse. Qui-Gon composed himself and opened it: there were locks of long hair inside. White, from his first Padawan, black from Xanatos, whatever remained of his own that his former Master Dooku had given him a long time ago. He carefully took several hair ties from the box: they were simple, with only the barest of faded green paint marking them.

They were his.

"The Force binds us together."

This was the third time he was going through this. Maybe the Living Force would be more forgiving this time.

"Planet to planet. Senate to Temple. Temple to Jedi."

Qui-Gon reached around Obi-Wan's shoulder and began twisting the long strands of untouched hair into a braid. He finished it off with his old hair ties.

"Jedi Master to Padawan."

Obi-Wan sat and listened with bated breath, very aware of his Master’s hands as they completed the braid. The boy realized that the ties used were the same ones that Qui-Gon had worn in his youth, and a sense of awe settled over him as the depth of the tradition and ritual began to sink in.

Qui-Gon bound the hair in the back into a ponytail. He stepped back, removing the towel and brushing off any stray strands of hair off Obi-Wan's shoulders.

"Together we are as one, yet we are also independent, as willed by the Force. Obi-Wan Kenobi, I hereby recognize you as my Padawan learner from this day forth."

[info]damned - Qui-Gon knights Obi-Wan

Snippet:

Qui-Gon paused for a moment, and then began:

"We are all Jedi. The Force speaks through us. Through our actions, the Force proclaims itself and what is real. Today we are here to acknowledge what the Force has proclaimed."

That was the standard greeting, what every Padawan would hear once he or she entered that limbo from Padawan to Knight. Usually it was only a few minutes. In Obi-Wan's case, it had been days, perhaps even weeks. Qui-Gon closed his eyes for a moment, consulting the Force. It was muted, as was usual here, but he could still feel how right this was in it, how Obi-Wan was meant to become a Knight.

Qui-Gon laid a hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder as he continued. What he said next was not in the knighting tradition at all, but it felt like it was the right thing to say, unorthodox or not. "The life of a Jedi Knight, much like that of a Padawan, is dangerous. The way, especially now, is grey. It will be difficult to read."

The Jedi Master moved his hand to Obi-Wan's other shoulder, where the rank braid had rested up until now. He remembered all too well that day when a thirteen year-old boy sat before him, all tension and excited energy, in his quarters, and it made his heart swell with pride as he realized that gawky boy was now this quiet, mature and ready young man kneeling here now.

"Change is upon us. It is a part of us, as individuals and as part of the larger galaxy. As your Master, I have seen you change from initiate to Padawan...Padawan to Jedi Knight. I have taught you everything I know; as your teacher, I have passed on my wisdom and gained new knowledge in return with you as my pupil. As a Master to a Padawn, there is nothing more I can teach you."

Qui-Gon's hand ghosted up to where the rank braid would have hung, if it had still been intact.

"The Force binds us. Planet to planet. Senate to Temple. Temple to Jedi. But it also creates new bonds from the old, for change is a way of life. To follow the Will of the Force is to reject stagnation, to accept growth."

Qui-Gon smiled down at Obi-Wan.

"You are no longer a Padawan; I, no longer your Master.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, by the will of the Force, I dub thee Jedi Knight of the Republic."

❥ my plans (if any) to write the character in the near future

I'm really hyped with how things have turned out so far. Qui-Gon meeting Obi-Wan again and knighting him is a huge step and I hope to get to the point where they can admit their attachments. I was prepping to write Dark!Qui-Gon, but I'm glad for now I don't have to. What I'm also looking forward to is the next trip to the basement, since we have the East and West artifacts and the South will require some kind of sacrifice. I'm not sure what'll happen after that, but I'm hoping to steer Qui-Gon to becoming more of a Gray Jedi.

Eddie Brock/Venom

❥ what initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.

I was rewatching the Venom episodes in the 90's cartoon. And I liked how creepy he was, even in the horribly censored 90's cartoon, and I was also hyped because at the time I heard he was going to be in Spider-man 3. The whole anti-hero thing with the symbiote was pretty awesome too.
❥ one of his/her best traits.

He's a dick but he doesn't think he is. He thinks he's entirely in the right and there's a weird logic to how he/they think. He really does care/rely on his symbiote and he's got a pretty creepy relationship with Peter Parker. I think in his mind, there's a pretty strict definition of justice, but it's warped by everyone else's standards. He can be friendly/charismatic, but he's got a lot of evil and bad choices in him still.

❥ one of his/her worst traits.

The same. He's a dick. He'll be happy to use someone and he stalks Peter Parker. He also hates everyone who gets close to Parker. This makes him fun to play though. But he's not really a super sympathetic character to me.

❥ how easy/difficult I find it to write the character.

Uh, the difficult part is I started playing a Spider-man 3 version with icons before the movie was even out. So I had to play an amalgram version and adjust/retcon his history when SM3 finally did come out (and it wasn't very good, no surprise). It's easy to write his dependency on the Other, but I think I forgot how to write the Other's "voice" as an individual thing now.

❥ the story/thread/chapter/post/etc where I feel that I truly captured them.

The Chapel with Caim and Brock:

Favorite thread. Basically Caim, a mute patient in [info]damned, spies on Brock trying to eat a monster's brain and they get into a fight. Brock overpowers him after a struggle and eats his eye, being a jerk :D.

❥ my plans (if any) to write the character in the near future

I'm not sure. I'd love a showdown with Harry. And I'm still torn up on who I'd want for SC if I ever got it: Brock would be the most evil/fun, Clark would be awesome but angst-filled the day after and Qui-Gon would just be scary as a Borderline Dark Jedi :D. I DUNNO. Uh, other than that, I'm also looking forward to a possible formation of the Injustice League in [info]damned
